The Transition Years
The article considers the importance of guiding students as they transition from one level to another. Not all schools understand the significance of producing a well-organized and well-thought-out plan to ease children's transition, especially from elementary to middle school and from middle to high school. Despite numerous environmental and personal variables converging upon students at the same time, schools can be useful in guiding teenagers through their developmental years. According to Jay Hertzog, dean of education at Pennsylvania's Slippery Rock University, the best transition programs are the ones customized to suit each school district.
